Join our tutor Heather Mitchell to craft your own dried flower wreath - a gorgeous addition to your home or maybe a gift for a loved one.
In this 3 hour workshop, Heather will show you how to use dried flowers to make a wreath on a metal base. She will also give pointers on how to dry flowers yourself and also how to keep your wreath staying beautiful for years to come.
There will also be delicious refreshments made by our cookery club to enjoy and, if you haven’t been to our site before, Joely will give you a full garden tour before you go home with your beautiful new wreath.

Use driftwood to create your very own sculpture to take home. Guided by sculptor Sam Copsey, you will be guided through the process of selecting the right pieces of driftwood for each part of the bird, then shown how to use the tools to assemble them. You will also craft your own stand using a choice of materials.

It won't be long before the next half term holidays are upon us!
Why not book your young crafter on to our pumpkin painting event at Root Connections on 29th October, 1pm-3pm. Something a little different from the usual - this promises to be a workshop where children can take their time to pick their perfect pumpkin and loving decorate something that will last until it's time to deck the halls for Christmas!
£15 per child - children aged 6+ only - no fee for accompanying adults. There will be yummy refreshments included (hot chocolate and cake), as well as photo opportunities in our autumnal grotto. There will also be other crafting opportunities in the grotto in case your child finishes quickly.
This is an outdoor event, we will keep warm with the firepit and be under shelter for the majority of the workshop.

Join us for an evening of making Christmas decorations under the twinkling lights of Manor Farm Pottery. In this 1hr 30min workshop, Suzanne will guide you in making up to 16 beautiful clay tree decorations, using foliage from the Root Connections garden, or your own if you wish to bring some along. Once your decorations are made, you will leave them with Suzanne to fire and glaze, then pick them up 3-4 weeks later - just in time to add to your tree!

Once again, we are joined by the wonderful Frances Campbell from Campbell Mosaics, this time to craft beautiful ornaments just in time for Christmas. No previous experience with mosaics necessary, just a love for creating bespoke ornaments for your home.
This workshop will be taking place in our community hub. As part of your experience, we will provide festive nibbles and refreshments and you can enjoy a tour of the grounds if you are new to Root Connections and wish to see the garden.

As well as our Root Connections produce and cafe selling homemade treats, there will be an array of artisanal/gift stalls, perfect for finding the best Christmas presents. What’s more, you can bring the whole family to enjoy our children’s activities, tombola, raffle and choir.

Create a beautiful Christmas garland in our relaxed, Christmassy, hands-on floristry workshop on Saturday 5 December at 10 am, led by Rachel, a trained florist and volunteer at Roots. You’ll be taught a simple technique to make your own stunning garland, around 2-3 ft long, using a selection of fresh wintery greenery and festive decorations.
Christmas garlands are beautifully versatile — hang yours along a staircase, above a fireplace, on a windowsill, or even place down the middle of a large table to create a stunning festive centrepiece. You can even add your own fairy lights!
The workshop is £45 per person, with all materials included. You’ll be welcomed with tea or coffee and a festive treat — a mince pie or a slice of cake.

Sculptural Garden Planters
A chance for both adults and children to slab build a wonderful creative planter drawing from Root Connections Garden as inspiration.
You will learn the main methods of pottery hand building including, coiling, pinching and slab building, and a huge variety of decorating techniques.
Don't worry if you've never tried pottery before – Suzanne will guide you through every step of the process. From an introduction to the world of pottery to preparing your clay, you'll gain a solid foundation of hand building in clay. Throughout the class, you'll work with high-quality materials and tools, ensuring that your creations turn out just the way you envision them.
Suzanne will then fire and glaze it, transforming your creation into a stunning masterpiece. You can collect your finished piece from Manor Farm Studios within 3 -4 weeks.
This event is suitable for adults and children, no children to come unaccompanied.

Rachel trained at the Bath Flower School and is a valued member of our flower team here at Root Connections. All participants will leave with three beautiful arrangements and a hand out detailing all they have learned.

We will use the local environment as inspiration for making a series of observational, explorative and imaginative drawings using a variety of drawing materials.
